Welcome to BCMF 2027
In 2027, Blackheath Chamber Music Festival returns with a program that amplifies the glory of the Season. Journey with the musicians of BCMF 2027 as together, we explore the transformative power of music; it’s irrefutable connection to nature; its ability to stir the soul; and the inextricable links that bind all music together.
Featuring 21 musicians performing across the Festival weekend, BCMF welcomes back treasured friends of the festival, including cellist Julian Smiles, oboist Shefali Pryor, bassoonist Matthew Wilkie, violinists Alexandra Osborne and Harry Bennetts, violist/composer Justin Williams and bassist Kees Boersma. And we welcome new faces who make their BCMF debut, including pianists Konstantin Shamray (winner of SIPC 2008) and Laurence Matheson, violist Stefanie Farrands, cellist Jesper Svedberg (winner of the 1999 Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition with the Kungsbacka Trio) and clarinetist David Griffiths.
We continue the tradition of inteprid programming with the Australian Premiere of Osvaldo Golijov’s Ever Yours and the World Premiere of a new song cycle by tenor, Andrew Goodwin. BCMF will also commission a new work, ‘The Harker Variations’ dedicated to BCMF founder Catherine Harker, premiered by Konstantin and featuring new music created by five Australian composers: Harry Sdraulig, Ella Macens, Justin Williams, Anne Cadres and Lachlan Skipworth.
In a new initiative, BCMF will present it’s inaugural Vanguard program, featuring five talented emerging artists who will be mentored by festival artists, and appear in performance at the newly created Sip & Listen event, presented in association with The Kyah.
The stage is set and a new dawn beckons. We look forward to welcoming you to BCMF 2027 in the heart of Blackheath.
